HI Unpar Lecturers Strengthening Expertise through Research and Community Services

Bandung, 5 January 2026. Parahyangan Center for International Studies (PACIS) organized a special workshop to provide an opportunity for International Relations lecturers who are also PACIS researchers to present research and community service proposals for 2026.

The workshop was designed to provide lecturers with the opportunity to share and learn about research and community service activities conducted by International Relations lecturers at Unpar. The proposals presented in the seminar were generally activity plans that would be submitted to the Unpar Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) to obtain funding support.

The topics presented are varied, and this shows HI Unpar’s superiority in continuing to develop human resource expertise,e which is the pillar of the International Relations Study Program. Each lecturer forms research and community service groups and recruits students as research assistants, as well as establishing partnerships with external institutions at regional, national, and international levels.

On this occasion, each group leader explained the proposals that had been prepared to be submitted to the LPPM.

Angguntari presented the research topic on “The Role of Indonesia and Turkey in Promoting Democracy Abroad in the Post-Liberal Order,” which is planned to be carried out with Cagla Kilic, Bilkent University. Angguntari is interested in foreign policy studies and non-traditional security issues

Elisabeth Satya Dewi, a Gender studies expert, presented a research proposal entitled “Participatory and Inclusive Audit in the Transition Process of the PPKS Task Force and Wellbeing Task Force to the PPKPT Task Force at Parahyangan Catholic University” and the Abdimas proposal “Strengthening Legal Awareness and Protection of Migrant Workers: Paralegal Training for the Prevention and Handling of Non-Procedural PMI in Indramayu Regency.”

Albert Triwibowo, who has expertise in soft power diplomacy, presented the Abdimas Proposal on Public Speaking for high school students who are partners of the Unpar International Relations Study Program, while Jessyca Martha, a diplomacy expert, presented the Abdimas Proposal for Strengthening Public Communication Competencies for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in Bandung City. Another international communication expert, Adhi Bhaskara: Academic Writing Training Program and socialization of scientific writing publications for Bandung City High School students.

Aknolt K Pakpahan, who has expertise in the field of political economy, shared his research plan entitled Political Economy of Electric Vehicle Development in Indonesia and the Zero Carbon Emission Target and Community Service Proposals for Increasing Digital Literacy and Advanced Sustainable Waste Management at SOS Children’s Village Lembang.

Unpar defense diplomacy expert, Idil Syafwi, representing Ratih Indraswari and the team, presented the Abdimas Proposal for Strengthening PT Len Industri’s Negotiation and Diplomacy Capacity (DEFEND ID).

Rizky Widian, who has a strong interest in non-traditional security issues, submitted research on “The Role of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cambodia in Protecting Indonesian Migrant Workers amidst Challenges and the Absence of Bilateral Workplace Placement Agreements.”

International law and comparative studies expert Giandi Kartasasmita, representing Ratih Indraswari and Prisca, presented a quantitative research design entitled: Does Flexibility undermine Cohesion? Empirical Evidence from ASEAN (1967-2024).”

Yulia Indrawati Sari presented a research proposal related to Online Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among students in Bandung City: Analysis of Forms, Patterns, and Institutional Capacity. Yulia has expertise in gender issues and is active in promoting gender equality at Unpar.

Stanislaus Apresian Risadi, political economist, presented a Research Proposal carried out with BRIN members with the theme Decentralization of Renewable Energy and Regional Government Capacity in Developing Community Energy Programs. Case Study of Mount Halu, West Java, and Kali Bawang Kulon Progo) and Community Service Proposal to Increase the Adaptation Capacity of SOS Children’s Village Semarang to Flood and Drought Disasters.

Annisa P Wiharani, who is interested in digital communications, presented a research proposal on “Beyond Awareness: Why Indonesia’s Digital Sustainability Campaigns Fail to Become Everyday Practice.”

On this occasion, other PACIS research members also shared research plans carried out with external partners. Mangadar Situmorang shared a research plan with the Center for Human Development and Social Justice (CHuDS) Study Center team regarding the energy transition in several places in Indonesia.

PACIS has a strong commitment to continuing to develop research and community service activities by encouraging lecturers to increase research and community service activities and collaborating with external partners who can strengthen their respective areas of expertise. This area of ​​expertise can enrich teaching materials in class and later contribute significantly to developing the competencies of HI Unpar students and alumni.
