The Writing of a Companion Book for the Grand Design of Policy Strategy in the Pacific Region: Collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ BSKLN and UNPAR’s PACIS

On August 5, 2024, the Parahyangan Center for International Studies (PACIS) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), representing Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), attended the signing of a self-managed contract for the Grand Design of Pacific Elevation Policy Strategy with the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency (BSKLN) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The signing ceremony for the collaboration document between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ BSKLN and Unpar’s PACIS was attended by Vahd Mulachela, Head of the Center for Asia Pacific and Africa Policy Strategy, Dr. Orpha Jane, Dean of FISIP UNPAR, Yulius Purwadi Hermawan, Chair of PACIS, and other representatives from both parties. This signing was the result of discussions regarding the Grand Design of Pacific Elevation Policy Strategy that had been underway since February 16, 2024.

During the event, Mr. Vahd expressed his appreciation for PACIS’s participation, which has previously contributed to various government agency activities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also expressed his hope that the involvement of PACIS and FISIP UNPAR could contribute recommendations for policy strategies related to the development of the Grand Design of the Pacific Elevation Policy Strategy, one of Indonesia’s future policies.

Both Dean and Chair of PACIS expressed their gratitude for the BSKLN’s trust in collaborating with PACIS and FISIP UNPAR and expressed optimism that this collaboration would assist and positively impact Indonesia’s strategy development in the future Pacific region. The meeting concluded with the signing of the self-managed contract for the Grand Design of the Pacific Elevation Policy Strategy by Ms. Lidia Helma, the Commitment Making Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Orpha Jane, the Dean of FISIP UNPAR.
